Hidden in the back of the 991.1 GT3 was the traditional naturally aspirated flat-six engine, once more with 3.8 litres of displacement. However, the fitment of an automatic gearbox was unheard of in a GT3, as was the introduction of four-wheel steering. If the purists wanted to complain, though, Porsche could easily hush them with the 991’s Nurburgring lap time. Taming the infamous circuit in seven minutes and 25 seconds, the new model was more than 30 seconds faster than the original.
